What is kanakku?
kanakku is a free web 2.0 application that is a combination of a spreadsheet and a calculator. This application is designed to be used on either IE 7+ or Firefox (Safari seems to be compatible, but further testing is ongoing). All operating systems that use these browsers should be able to use this Website.
"Blank" is not working.
This is sometimes the result of a new release of the application. In order to fix this error just reload the main page using your browser. If that doesn't help then contact support at kanakkusupport at gmail dot com.
How do I use this application?
The application can be used in a variety of ways. Like a spreadsheet, mathematical formulas can be written in each cell. These formulas can be evaluated by pressing the enter key, and the corresponding answer to the formula will be displayed to the user. The type of formulas used by this application can be determined by looking at the function keys on the calculator. As of now, this application can handle arithmetic, trigonometric, statistical, and conversion functions. The user can also select multiple cells and select a functional key on the calculator. If the function selected by the user is a unary operator (only one operand or multi selection is needed) then the answer will be automatically displayed. Binary operators require a multi selection to be made, then the desired binary operator should be pressed, and this is followed by making the final multi selection.
Do I need to create an account or sign up for the service?
No. This website does not use accounts. You are free to use this website without registration.
Why is the spreadsheet so small?
The spreadsheet is 26 cells wide and 60 cells high. You can scroll across the page to see the other elements. Also, you can multiselect elements and move your pointer to the edge of the spreadsheet and the screen will automatically scroll with the pointer.
Can I save or open files?
Yes. File can be saved or opened into the application. Please note that currently only csv (e.g. comma separated value) file extensions are supported.
How do I increase the amount of decimal points displayed?
By default the amount of decimal points displayed is 4. In order to increase this value, you can select "Option" on the menu bar and then click "Preferences". This will bring up the "Preferences" window. Changed the "Set Max Precision" value on the window to the desired amount and then close the screen.
Can I control the way in which multi selection operations are handled?
Yes. By default all multi selection operations are handled by rows. This means that the operator selected for the multi selection will apply to all elements within the row. For example, if the operator "+" was selected then the add operator would be applied to all elements in the row. In order to change this behavior, you can select "Option" on the menu bar and then click "Preferences". This will bring up the "Preferences" window. Changed the "Handle Multi Operation By" value on the window to the desired value and then close the screen.
Can I use the arrow keys to navigate around the spreadsheet?
Yes. Hold down the ctrl key and press the arrow keys to move around the spreadsheet.
What is Sudoku?
Sudoku is a puzzle game. Read the rules here. Thanks to Binny VA for the Sudoku generator.
Can I change column width?
Yes. Hold down the mouse on a column header and move the mouse to the right or left to expand or contract the width. When you have selected a new width let go of the mouse.
What is the console?
The console contains the history of the past operations that you have made. Users find this helpful because they can see the previous calculations. Users can also freely cut, copy, and paste between the spreadsheet and the console. If you do not want to use the console then click the console panel header. The application will then hide the console from view.
